Best and worst performing primary schools in Cheshire West revealed

And one of the top ten ranking schools in the area is a Northwich school.

Performance data released by the Department for Education shows how schools across England performed in the academic year 2023 to 2024.

Figures in a league table show how well schools performed in the SATs exams this summer and also reflect progress made while children are at primary school.

Ranking primary schools across Cheshire West and Chester from best to worst based on the average scores pupils secured in key subjects, as well as the percentage of pupils meeting the ‘expected standard’.

Comberbach Nursery and Primary School based in Northwich was ranked eighth best performing out of the 158 schools listed.

Data showed that 87 per cent of its 23 pupils were meeting the expected standard, with the year group achieving an average reading score of 110 and an average maths score of 109.

The school recently converted to academy status this October, joining Weaver Trust Limited.

Meanwhile number one on the list was Lower Peover CofE Primary School in Knutsford.

The school had 97 per cent of its 29 pupils achieving the expected standard and its year six pupils had an average score of 111 for reading and maths in the most recent academic year.

Among the top five, ranked second was Bishop Wilson Church of England Primary School in Neston, having 93 per cent of its 14 pupils reaching the expected standard.

This was followed by Delamere CofE Primary Academy in Tarporley, Childer Thornton Primary School in Ellesmere Port and Waverton Community Primary School in Chester.

School performance data should be considered alongside a range of other information about the school, which could include looking at school websites, reading Ofsted reports, and speaking to the school directly. Conclusions should not be drawn on a single piece of data alone.
