
Reports were published on social media by users of a Chester Facebook group of two men talking to pupils of Dee Point Primary School in Blacon Point Road.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed it had received a complaint after a member of the public raised their concerns over the men’s behaviour.
She said: “At around 1.20pm today, Tuesday, October 14, police were made aware of a report of suspicious activity near to a primary school in Blacon Point Road, Chester.

“The caller reported that between 12.45pm and 1pm, two men were seen in the visitor car park area of the school and may have talked to some of the children through the fence.
“The men then left when they were approached by a member of staff.
“Enquiries are currently ongoing in relation to the incident and anyone with any information should contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via our website, quoting IML-2194734.”
A statement from the school published to social media and seen by The Standard confirmed a report had been made to police.
It said: “We have been made aware of a post circulating on social media regarding two men allegedly speaking to children through the gates on the playground.
“(We) would like to reassure you that all children are safe and the member of the public has reported this to police and they will follow this up.
“We have spoken to Years 5 and 6 to reinforce stranger dangers and ensure they walk straight home.”
However, it was confirmed late on Wednesday that both men were known to the pupil and no offences were committed.
