This announcement marks an expansion for the company, which has focused on running events until now.
Callum Shields of Active Leisure Events (ALE) said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be taking this next big step in our journey.
“Many of our team are keen triathletes and members of Chester Tri Club who have participated in the event in the 27 years it has been running.”
The Deva Triathlon, created with the help of Andy White, ALE co-founder, has been a staple in Chester’s sports calendar, giving athletes the chance to compete across multiple disciplines.
The club was searching for another organiser to take over ownership, and ALE was selected to ensure the event’s continuity.
ALE started 14 years ago with the MBNA Chester Marathon, which quickly grew into a multi-award-winning event.
In 2012, they took on the UK’s longest-running half marathon, the Essar Chester Half Marathon, and in 2018, they created the MBNA Chester 10K, which has sold out every year since.
According to ALE, their focus has been on creating mass participation running events, but they have always been open to opportunities in other areas of sport.
The addition of the Deva Triathlon to their portfolio represents a significant step in this direction.
Mr Shields said: “The Deva Triathlon has long been a highlight in the Chester sports calendar and we are honoured to be bringing it under the ALE umbrella, combining our expertise with its incredible legacy to take the event to new heights.”
The 2025 Deva Triathlon, set for Sunday, June 1, will retain its finish location at Grosvenor Park and is expected to offer the same suite of races as in 2024.
Mr White said: “We are committed to taking the race forward and Chester Triathlon Club can be confident the event is in safe hands.”
Chester Tri Club will continue to work alongside ALE to deliver the race and will still running the transition and swim every year.
Charlie Price, captain of Chester Tri Club, said: “We are really pleased to have been able to agree terms with Active Leisure Events and are excited to work alongside them in delivering the amazing Deva Triathlon in 2025 and moving forwards.
“Having Active Leisure Events take over the running of the Deva Triathlon offers a fantastic opportunity for the race to grow and develop and secures its long-term future.”
