Upton book treasure hunt needs sponsors says organiser

Chloe Skinner, who teaches in Chester, will be leaving books around Upton as part of a treasure hunt designed to het children reading.

But she needs the public’s help in sponsoring a set of books that works out to around £1 per set so that she can fund the event.

She urged anyone who can help as she looks to help children reduce screen time and get into reading.

Chloe said: “I am an independent Usborne partner, and I run a children’s bookshop called Cosy Time Books.

“I am very passionate about getting more children reading and more books into the community!

“I am also a part time primary school teacher in Chester.

“To encourage children to keep picking books up during their time away from education over the Easter holidays, I would love to run a Book Treasure Hunt around Upton, Chester.

OTHER NEWS:

“I grew up here, so it is a special place for me.

“This is a fun way to get children out in the fresh air, getting them off their screens, and getting a bit of exercise too!

“I will be hiding books in and around Upton for the children to find and clues will be given out on social media.

“The child who finds the book, takes it home to read and then re-hides it if they wish.”

Chloe is hoping to run the event during the holidays between April 7-20 but reiterated that for it to succeed, peoples’ sponsorship is needed.

She added: “Would you like to be a book sponsor?

“You could sponsor a whole set of books or pledge a donation towards a set – the books work out around 80p-£1 each.

“For your sponsorship, you will receive a book plate in each of the books you sponsor advertising your business.

“Your books would go into many households, and it would be some lovely advertising for you.

“Your business would also be promoted in the Facebook group I will be setting up for the clues.

“I do hope it is something you would like to get involved in.”
