Overwater Marina and Holiday Park, located near Audlem, has introduced What3Words location stickers across the marina, touring park and glamping site.
This innovative measure is designed to help emergency services locate individuals quickly and precisely in the event of an incident.
Each electrical bollard and facilities point across the marina and caravan and glamping site is now fitted with a clearly visible sticker displaying its unique What3Words address — a simple, three-word code that pinpoints an exact 3-metre square location anywhere in the world.
In the event of an emergency, users can quote the three words to emergency services to provide an accurate and immediate location, helping to reduce response times and improve outcomes.
“Safety is of paramount importance to us,” says the marina manager David Johnson.
“By using What3Words, we’re giving our berth holders, caravanners, glampers and visitors a simple yet powerful tool to ensure they can be found quickly in an emergency. Our rural surroundings are beautiful, but with the diverse layout and size of the marina, it’s not always easy to explain your location — this solves that problem instantly.”
In addition to this initiative, the Overwater Marina team is currently fundraising for an external defibrillator cabinet.
While a defibrillator is already available on-site, the new cabinet would make the device accessible 24/7 to the public and emergency services, even outside of office hours.
“We’re committed to going the extra mile when it comes to our customers and health and safety,” adds Marina owners Janet and Angus Maughan.
“Installing an external cabinet will make our defibrillator accessible at any time of day or night, potentially saving lives in critical situations.”
